Bible Verse

Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Reflection

Darkness has never overcome light. Even the smallest candle can illuminate an entire room. Jesus used this simple truth to describe the influence His followers are to have in the world.

As believers, we are called to reflect the light of Christ. This light is not generated by our own goodness but shines through lives transformed by His grace. Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every expression of forgiveness, and every faithful witness points others toward our Savior.

Our purpose is not to draw attention to ourselves. Jesus specifically says that when people see our good works, they should glorify our Father in heaven. The Christian life is meant to direct attention away from ourselves and toward Christ.

There may be days when your influence seems small. You may wonder whether your faithfulness makes any difference. Yet God often uses ordinary acts of obedience in extraordinary ways. A conversation, an invitation to church, a helping hand, or a simple expression of Christ’s love may become the very means God uses to change another person’s life.

The darker our culture becomes, the more brightly genuine Christian character shines. The world needs believers whose lives consistently reflect the hope, peace, and love found in Jesus Christ.

May your life today point someone toward the Light of the world.

Practical Application

  • Ask God to help you reflect Christ today.
  • Look for opportunities to serve others quietly.
  • Share your testimony with someone.
  • Speak words that encourage rather than criticize.
  • Remember that every act of kindness can glorify God.
