Revelation 13:8 — Book of Life and the Foundation of the World

This text is often used to argue that particular elect names were immutably written before creation. Its grammar and relationship to Revelation 17:8 require care, including what “from the foundation of the world” modifies. The metaphor should not be pressed as though God literally maintains a chronological enrollment ledger explaining the mechanism of election.
