Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Reflection
Jesus completely transformed the world’s understanding of greatness. While many seek positions of honor, influence, or recognition, Christ demonstrated that true greatness is found in humble service.
The King of kings washed His disciples’ feet. The Creator cared for the weak, welcomed children, touched lepers, and showed compassion to those society ignored. Ultimately, He demonstrated the greatest act of service by laying down His life on the cross for sinners.
As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His servant’s heart. Serving others is not merely something Christians do; it is part of who we are becoming. Every act of kindness, every encouraging word, every sacrifice made for another person becomes an opportunity to display the love of Christ.
Many of the most meaningful acts of service will never receive public recognition. Yet nothing done for God’s glory is ever overlooked by Him.
The joy of serving comes not from applause but from knowing that we are following the example of our Savior.
Practical Application
- Look for one practical way to serve someone today.
- Serve without expecting recognition.
- Pray for a heart that values others above yourself.
- Volunteer where there is genuine need.
- Remember that serving Christ often begins by serving people.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect example of humble service. Give me a servant’s heart and help me love others as You have loved me. May my life reflect Your compassion and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
