2 Thessalonians 2

Supplementary Note: 2 Thessalonians 2:13–14 — Chosen and Called Through the Gospel

Paul joins God’s choice, sanctification by the Spirit, belief in the truth, and calling through the Gospel. He explicitly says God called them “through our gospel.” This is important when evaluating a definition of calling as an inward irresistible regeneration separate from Gospel proclamation. Divine initiative is unmistakable, but belief in the truth and Gospel calling are also explicit.
