Today’s Bible Verse

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Today’s Reflection

One of the greatest privileges God gives parents is the opportunity to shape the hearts of their children. The influence of a godly home reaches far beyond childhood and often echoes throughout future generations.

Training a child involves much more than teaching manners or academic knowledge. It includes patiently instructing them in God’s Word, modelling a consistent Christian life, correcting them in love, and praying faithfully for their spiritual growth.

Children learn as much from what they observe as from what they are told. Parents who demonstrate humility, forgiveness, integrity, and faithfulness provide powerful examples that sermons alone cannot replace.

This proverb is not a guarantee that every child will make wise decisions throughout life. Rather, it highlights the lasting influence of godly instruction. The truths planted during childhood often remain deeply rooted even when a young person temporarily wanders from the Lord.

Christian parents should never underestimate the importance of daily faithfulness. Family devotions, prayer, Scripture reading, church attendance, and conversations about God’s goodness shape a child’s understanding of the world.

Our culture constantly competes for the attention of children. That makes intentional discipleship within the home more important than ever. Parents cannot control every decision their children will make, but they can faithfully sow seeds that God is pleased to use throughout their lives.

The greatest legacy parents can leave is not wealth or possessions, but a genuine love for Jesus Christ.

Practical Application

  • Read Scripture together as a family.
  • Pray daily for your children or grandchildren.
  • Model forgiveness and humility.
  • Be intentional about spiritual conversations.

Prayer

Father,

Give parents wisdom as they raise their children. Help us to model Christ in both word and deed. May our homes become places where Your truth is loved, taught, and faithfully lived.

Amen.
