Today’s Bible Verse

So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.” 2 Corinthians 5:9

Today’s Reflection

Every person lives for someone’s approval. Some seek the approval of friends, others desire recognition from family, employers, or society. Yet Paul reminds believers that our greatest ambition should be to please the Lord.

Living to please God simplifies many of life’s decisions. Instead of asking what is most popular, profitable, or comfortable, we begin asking what brings honor to Christ.

This perspective affects every area of life. It shapes how we speak, how we treat others, how we work, how we spend our resources, and how we respond to difficulties.

The wonderful truth is that pleasing God is not about earning His love. Because of Christ, believers are already accepted by the Father. Our obedience flows from gratitude rather than obligation.

As we walk closely with Christ, our desires gradually become aligned with His. We begin finding joy in what pleases Him and turning away from what grieves Him.

A life lived for God’s approval is a life well lived.

Practical Application

  • Begin each day asking how you can honor Christ.
  • Examine your motives behind today’s decisions.
  • Choose obedience even when it is difficult.
  • Remember that God’s approval matters most.
  • End each day with a prayer of thanksgiving and self-examination.

Prayer

Father,

help me live for Your approval above all else. Shape my desires so that they reflect Your heart. May every word, decision, and action bring honor to Jesus Christ.

Amen.
