Today’s Bible Verse

Revelation 21:5 ESV: “And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’

Today’s Reflection

There is something deeply hopeful about the promise of newness. We long for fresh starts, clean slates, and second chances. Life often leaves us feeling worn down—by mistakes, regrets, disappointments, or simply the weight of daily responsibilities. Yet in Revelation 21:5, God speaks directly into that longing with a powerful declaration: “Behold, I am making all things new.”

This promise is not merely about the future renewal of creation—though that is certainly included. It is also a present reality for every believer. God is in the business of renewal. He restores what is broken, heals what is wounded, and breathes life into what feels lifeless. His work of renewal begins the moment we come to Christ and continues throughout our lives.

Sometimes we resist this renewal because change can be uncomfortable. We cling to old habits, old fears, or old identities. But God’s renewal is not cosmetic—it is transformational. He does not simply patch up the old; He creates something new within us. This is why Scripture speaks of believers as new creations and describes the Christian life as one of continual transformation.

The beauty of God’s renewal is that it is not dependent on our strength. He does not say, “Make yourself new.” He says, “I am making all things new.” The work is His. Our role is to surrender, trust, and walk with Him as He shapes us into the image of Christ.

This promise also reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s ability to redeem. Broken relationships, wounded hearts, shattered dreams—God can bring new life where we see only loss. He specializes in resurrection. What feels final to us is often the beginning of something new in His hands.

Practical application

  • Invite God’s renewal. Ask Him to show you one area of your life where He wants to bring newness.
  • Release the old. Identify something you need to let go of—an attitude, habit, or fear—and surrender it to God.
  • Look for signs of new life. Pay attention to small changes God is producing in you. Celebrate them.

Prayer

Lord,

thank You for being the God who makes all things new. Renew my heart, my mind, and my spirit. Help me release what holds me back and embrace the new work You are doing in me. Give me eyes to see Your hand at work and faith to trust Your timing. Make me a living testimony of Your transforming power.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
