Public Help — Bible Cross References

Clark’s Bible Cross References provides a searchable local edition of the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (TSK) cross-reference data.

It provides two complementary ways to explore Scripture:

Bible Verse lookup — begin with a particular verse and discover related passages.

Bible Topics lookup — begin with a word, phrase, or TSK heading and discover verses and cross references associated with it.

The tool contains 63,682 TSK records stored locally on Clark’s Anchored in Christ.

Bible Verse Lookup

Enter one Bible verse, for example:

Romans 8:28

The tool finds the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge entries associated with that verse.

Results are organized beneath the TSK’s own word or phrase headings.

For example, a verse may contain several separate TSK headings, each followed by the cross references associated with that particular thought or phrase.

This is more informative than presenting one undifferentiated list of references because it preserves the organization supplied by the source data.

Reference Formats

The lookup accepts full Bible book names and common abbreviations.

Both formats are accepted:

Romans 8:28

and

Romans 8.28

The search is for one verse at a time.

Exploring a Returned Cross Reference

Returned Scripture references are themselves interactive.

Select one of them and the tool uses that verse as the next Bible Cross References lookup.

So study can proceed naturally:

Romans 8:28
→ related passage
→ select related passage
→ see its cross references
→ continue exploring.

This keeps the reader inside the same Cross References study environment.

Bible Topics

The second tool searches the TSK’s own word and phrase headings.

Begin typing at least three characters.

A searchable dropdown appears containing matching TSK headings.

Select one to search for verses where that heading occurs.

The results show:

matched TSK heading
cross references

This can be useful when approaching Scripture from a concept rather than starting with a known verse.

An Important Meaning of “Topic”

Here we should be especially precise in the Help documentation.

The Bible Topics search does not create new theological categories or use an AI-generated topical system.

It searches the actual:

TSK word_phrase field.

Therefore:

“Topic” in Bible Cross References means a heading present in the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge source data.

That distinction should remain explicit.

This plugin also has a very useful connection to the Clark’s Topical Index we just documented.

When a TSK heading exactly matches a topic contained in Clark’s Topical Index, the Cross References result can display:

See Articles

followed by Clark’s Anchored in Christ articles associated with that topic.

That produces a very nice path:

Scripture verse
→ TSK heading
→ related Scriptures
→ Clark’s articles on the same topic

This also confirms something we were careful not to assume during Tool #13:

Yes — Bible Cross References v1.3.3 directly uses the Topical Index table.

It explicitly reads:

{$wpdb->prefix}cti_index

and expects:

• topic_name
• article_name
• article_url

So for Bible Cross References, Clark’s Topical Index is a confirmed optional integration.

If the Topical Index table does not exist, the TSK lookup itself still works; See Articles simply disappears.

That makes Topical Index an enhancement, not a hard dependency.
