Clark’s Scripture Tooltips allows you to examine Scripture without continually leaving the article you are reading. Ordinary Bible references throughout Clark’s Anchored in Christ can open the corresponding passage from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) directly on the page.
Opening a Scripture Tooltip
Hover over a Scripture reference with your mouse. After a short intentional-hover delay, the Scripture passage opens beside the reference.
The delay is deliberate. It prevents Scripture windows from continually appearing simply because the mouse happens to pass over a reference while you are reading.
You can move the mouse from the reference into the Scripture window and continue reading or using its controls. When the window is not pinned, moving away from both the Scripture reference and the tooltip closes it automatically.
Pinning Scripture
Click PIN when you want to keep a Scripture passage open.
A pinned passage remains on the screen while you continue reading the article or open additional study material. The control changes to indicate that the window is PINNED. You can also move pinned study windows around the screen to arrange your workspace.
Click the pin control again to unpin the window, or Close to remove it.
This makes it possible to keep several relevant passages or study windows available while comparing Scripture.
Copying a Passage
Click the Copy icon in the Scripture window to copy the displayed Scripture and useful identifying information to your clipboard.
You can then paste it into study notes, a document, an email, or other material without manually selecting the text.
Open the Full Bible
The Bible/Read Chapter control takes you from the individual passage into the full Berean Standard Bible Reader.
The Bible opens to the chapter containing the passage you were examining and identifies the relevant verse. The full Bible Reader opens independently in the center of the screen so that the small Scripture Tooltip can continue doing what it was designed to do—remain associated with the Scripture reference in the article.
From the Bible Reader you can read the surrounding chapter, move to the previous or next chapter, or open the Choose Book & Chapter navigation panel.
Study Individual Hebrew and Greek Words
Many words in the displayed BSB Scripture are interactive.
Click an available word to open a Strong’s Word Study for the Hebrew or Greek word underlying the English translation. Depending upon the available source information, the study window can provide such information as the:
Strong’s number • Hebrew or Greek form • lemma • transliteration • part of speech • definition • derivation • BSB rendering
This allows someone who does not read Hebrew or Greek to look beneath the English translation and examine the word from which it was translated.
The English wording should not be confused with the original-language word itself. The BSB Rendering helps show how the underlying word or expression is represented in the particular passage being studied.
Footnotes and Cross-References
Where the Berean Standard Bible provides footnotes or cross-references, those resources are incorporated into the Scripture study environment.
Cross-references can themselves be opened as Scripture passages, allowing you to follow Scripture from one passage to another without abandoning the original article.
The system also recognizes when the same study window is already open. Rather than unnecessarily creating another copy, it can bring the existing window forward.
Words of Christ
Where supported by the official BSB source information, the words of Jesus are displayed in red.
This includes both verses consisting entirely of Christ’s words and mixed verses containing narration together with Christ’s speech. The system uses locally indexed verse and character information rather than attempting to guess at runtime which words should be red.
Old Testament — View the Septuagint
When an Old Testament passage is being examined and LXX integration is enabled, the Scripture window provides View LXX.
This hands the passage to the independent Clark’s LXX Tooltips system, where the corresponding Septuagint passage can be examined using Brenton English and the underlying Greek.
The LXX system is deliberately independent of Scripture Tooltips. If LXX functionality is unavailable or disabled, the ordinary BSB Scripture Tooltip continues to function normally.
