Today’s Bible Verse

Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2 (ESV)

Today’s Reflection

Life has a way of distracting us. Responsibilities multiply, unexpected trials arise, and the pressures of everyday living can slowly shift our attention away from Christ. The writer of Hebrews reminds believers where their focus must remain—on Jesus.

He is described as both the founder and the perfecter of our faith. He is the One who began our salvation, and He is the One who will bring it to completion. Every step of the Christian life depends upon Him.

When Peter stepped out of the boat, he walked safely upon the water as long as his eyes remained fixed on Jesus. The moment he focused upon the wind and waves, fear overwhelmed him. The same principle applies to our lives today. When we become consumed by circumstances, anxiety often grows. When we fix our eyes upon Christ, faith is strengthened.

Looking to Jesus means regularly spending time in His Word, speaking with Him in prayer, remembering His promises, and trusting His sovereign care. It means allowing the gospel to remain central in our thinking rather than becoming distracted by temporary concerns.

The Christian life is not merely about trying harder.

It is about knowing Christ more deeply.

The more clearly we see Him, the more faithfully we will follow Him.

Practical Application

  • Begin each morning by reading a passage about Christ.
  • When worries arise, consciously redirect your thoughts toward His promises.
  • Ask yourself throughout the day, “Am I focused on my circumstances or my Savior?”
  • Spend time thanking Jesus for His finished work on the cross.
  • Encourage another believer to keep their eyes fixed upon Christ.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

help me keep my eyes fixed upon You. When distractions and difficulties arise, remind me that You are the Author and Perfecter of my faith. Strengthen my trust, deepen my love for You, and help me follow You faithfully until the day I see You face to face.

Amen.
